I’ve been quiet for a long time on this page and decided tonight was the night I needed to update my wonderful supporters! In June I closed the door to reading noodle subscriptions. The amount of time (hours and days) spent cutting, laminating, and organizing was taking me away from my family and fueling my anxiety like never before. I still sell digital copies online, but I’ve decided my chapter with reading noodle has come to an end, and I’m SO thankful for all the wonderful support. I’m happy to announce that another chapter opened over the past 8 months and is now officially launched. Check out my new business @jot_journals , I feel like so many of you wonderful educators, mothers, friends could benefit from this simple prompted journal. I have big plans for this company, one of those plans includes a journal specific to developing writing skills in elementary ages kids! Come follow along my journey at JOT. I’m currently accepting preorders via the link in my bio on that page ❤️. Ps. I’ll forever be thankful for the support of Reading Noodle. And I’m still 100% here to answer any reading questions!
I can recite this book from memory. And today while I got ready I set Cohen up for tummy time and asked Janie to read to him. And she did. She recited the majority of the book from memory (even though she read it backwards—see my story for that cuteness) and it had me all 😍. #goodnightmoon #readingnoodle
I was going through old pictures from my teaching days and found this gem. This sweet student has a special place in my heart. Her mom was a teacher at our school and was concerned about her daughters reading level. She specifically asked to have her in my class (which was a huge honor!) for the reading portion of our day, and during math this cutie went on to her Spanish immersion class. By making sure she was in the appropriate reading small group, collaborating with her mom, and doing weekly assessments I watched this little girl blossom into a confident and increasingly fluent reader over the year. Some days I find myself missing those days. The days where I watched my students progress and become confident readers. Teaching reading has always been my passion. But I’m also thankful for the skills I was able to bring with me as I left the teaching profession to have babies. I’m thankful for the skills I learned and the knowledge I can use with my children and with the children and parents that use Reading Noodle! That’s why I started Reading Noodle because parent support and collaboration are key to a readers success! PS I was about 12 weeks pregnant with Janie in this picture ❤️. This was my last year teaching.
Finally shipped my April orders out today! It’s nice to have little helpers (more like little distractors) but everything takes 10x longer. But this little helper sure is cute ❤️ #readingnoodle #earlychildhoodeducation
Running on about 2 hours of sleep thanks to both my babes being up all hours of the night. But I’m determined to get my orders finished and ready to ship so I can just enjoy Easter weekend (and my 5 year anniversary tomorrow!) with my family. So messy bun, sweats, and baby wearing as I laminate and cut orders is how I’m rolling today! Sometimes balance means accepting imbalance. #momboss #earlychildhoodeducation #readingnoodle
Back in the day I used to sing in choirs, small ensembles, and solo acts. I loved it and miss it so much. So I sing to my babies instead ❤️. I believe singing is an incredible way to help strengthen literacy skills too! Janie is obsessed with this darling book featuring a favorite song from my childhood. Happy toddler Tuesday!
